Real Engagement: Rocky Mountain National Park Sunset Engagement, Estes Park

November 14, 2019 Jenae Lopez
Trail Ridge Road Sunset Colorado engagement photo

A Rocky Mountain Sunset lights the sky for a gorgeous Colorado Adventure Engagement!

There are really just some magical Sunsets that happen in Colorado sometimes…and when you are up on top of Trail Ridge Road (aka the top of the world lol) in Rocky Mountain National Park for an engagement session at the same time…you kinda feel like you have won the lottery as a photographer!!

This is one of my favorite Colorado locations for an Engagement session! Although, Trail Ridge is only open partial year— so you gotta get it in while you can!!

I met up with K+T for their session on a gorgeous summer afternoon in Estes Park, and we hit up some of my favorite little areas down in the Park, before heading high up the road to the top of Trail Ridge! The chemistry between these two was on fire, and they just had such a blast being with each other and goofing around too! It’s the total best when couples can just play around and not take things too seriously in front of the camera! Results are magic!

As we rolled up to the top of the road, the sky looked as though it wasn’t going to be too magical…and then all the sudden it just broke through near the horizon, and it was on fire! Oranges and Pinks oh my! I literally told K+T to RUN out of the car lol. I’m pretty sure I was probably jumping around on rocks like a crazy weirdo just smiling and yelling inappropriate things because I was so happy for the gorgeous light! It happens.

We soaked up all the light until the very end near the Lava Cliffs area, and then happily jumped into the heated car!! It’s cold on top of the world- even in the summer! ;)

You just can’t plan the light, or the magic, that can happen during a Colorado Engagement session folks…it is an unpredictable location we live in - but if you roll with the punches- I promise it is almost always worth it!!

Thanks K+T- I had a blast and wish you the absolute best for your out of state wedding!!
