It wasn’t a Cotton Candy sunset….and there was a point where we ran to our cars because the hairs on our arms stood up (lightning…..)….but I am in love with this session. I love when life surprises me, and I get to think on my feet and shoot in the moment. Also, Paige wore an Emerald Green dress….like, duh. #dead
The afternoon started out super sunny…and the forecast called for a killer sunset and sky….MAYBE some showers. Great! We started our shoot at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park….and it was almost “too” sunny lol….apparently I was a bit high maintenance for my desire for certain lighting that day lol. Anyway, we played around and then decided to head up towards Trail Ridge Road….it looked like clouds were rolling in. We hit some really pretty light along Moraine Park as we headed that direction….and decided to jump out (amongst 100 people viewing the very nearby elk herd)!
As we trickled up to the top of the Ridge….the clouds were eminent…and it was now raining a bit. HOWEVER, Colorado had seasonable Fires going on (unfortunately of course!!)…and it turned our dark and stormy Sky into this weird Orange/blue moody sky! We popped out of the car at the Lava Cliffs, which I thought made for such a cool backdrop with their outfits! After seeing the rain coming our way over the West Horizon…we hit up our last spot….the “money” spot lol. With the sky, the fires and Paige’s Dark Green dress…I just couldn’t help but feel that we were venturing through the Lord of the Rings…and may or may not have been pretending to be Gollum as I jumped from rock to rock lol.
It was amazing you guys. I’m so thankful for amazing people that adventure with me and trust me to take them to cool places and get cool photos! Colorado usually doesn’t disappoint for Adventure Engagements…or Weddings! I am pretty lucky!!
So, needless to say, it was an amazing day in the Hills…and I can’t wait to photograph Paige and Luke’s Wedding next Summer in Estes Park as well!!
Till our next Adventure!!
