Late Winter hiking to Dream Lake for epic Sunset Engagement!
Oh my gosh would you get a load of these two!? It's almost too freakin beautiful to handle! They are just the most adorable couple together! We had so much fun hiking around Rocky Mountain National Park this winter! I had wanted to head up to Dream Lake with a couple for a while- but the winds can be ridiculously fierce up there (not ideal for portraits!), or super cold! We decided to go for it though- and although it was chilly for sure- it turned out to be a beautiful Colorado day!!
I love this area of our amazing state- I truly love when I get to do sessions in the Park! There are so many different options of views and locations within a short distance- Sprague Lake, Dream Lake, Bear Lake, Moraine Park, Sheep Lakes, and of course Trail Ridge Road (in the summer!). If you are looking for an amazing Colorado location for Engagement photos- I would always recommend this area!
We started our adventure around the Deer Ridge Junction area, and then headed back down towards Bear Lake and Glacier Basin area (pulling off along the way for views of Longs Peak!). We then ventured the wintery/slippery hike up to Dream Lake! It was pretty packed down so we didn't need snowshoes....but I ended up throwing my cramps on...it was super slippery!! We arrived up there around Sunset time! Sunrise is technically a *better* photo time for Dream Lake- because of the direction of the sun- but I think we still got some pretty beautiful stuff in the afternoon! ;) We just played around the area (after Holly bravely changed her clothes out in the cold elements!), and then ventured back down the hill!
As we pulled out towards Moraine Park, (it was pretty much dark by now)- I decided to get a night headlamp photo! Sometimes you gotta push your creativity a bit and try some new stuff! ;)
these two are tying the knot soon up in Wisconsin, and I get to go be a part of it with them! I'm super stoked to be a part of it! It's always fun to shoot in different areas of the country/world! Can't wait! Thank you two for doing an adventurous Colorado Engagement session with me!!
