Twin Goodness~ Family Story Photography ~ Denver Documentary Family Photography

Adorable Twin girls....and a few backyard Chickens...

Denver Family Photography session with my lovely friend and her little adventurous toddler girls!

Well...of course I have a soft spot for twins.  I also have a soft spot for my friends.  When you combine the two- it's just amazing.  These two little girls are some of the most spirited, adventurous, hilarious littles that I have met!  It's so interesting being around twins that are so identical...as mine are not!  I tried my very best to keep up with which one was which...and of course once their personalities come out you can tell immediately...but I have to say identical or not, twins have such a special bond that you can just tell by the way they are always around each other.  Even now, my boys are 7, and so totally opposite...but they are always sub-consciously around each other.  Like, even when they fight- they can't leave each other alone!  I used to pick them up from daycare/preschool, and they'd be playing with different people- or toys- but still be right next to each other.  It's so cool...built in best friend for life!  (Although the fighting gets old too lol!)

Family photography, and these Family Story sessions, are so incredibly important (in my opinion!).  I think especially as mom (and then a mom-photographer on top of that!), you seldom see yourself in front of the camera- and get a true likeness as to how you interact with your kiddos.  I hear every woman ALWAYS say something about their looks or how they could look better for their photos....or, how they want to wait to get photos until "I look skinnier", or, "our house is cleaner"...No ladies!!  No!  You NEED to be in the photos, in these Memories with your kids!  Your kids won't care that your highlights are grown out, or you have a little extra around the middle (coincidentally, where they love to hug you....;)- your kids (and you!) will want to have photos, and moments, to look back on one day- with you in them together!!  In my opinion, Family Photography shouldn't only be thought of as just creating a pretty portrait to hang on the wall- where everyone is faking a smile and looks perfectly put together (now...if you happen to get that shot and everyone is happy-- that's great!  But that's not everything....).... it should be thought of more as your way of documenting your life together!  Telling your family story!

Your kids won't remember when they are little...but you can show them....

You have your accountant....your hairdresser, your lawyer, your insurance agent, your bank, your financial advisor....dentist....doctor......but do you have your Photographer??  Do you have that professional in your life that is helping you truly document your Story, and preserve your MEMORIES!?

(Hint:  if you don't.....I can help you with that ;) )

Here are a few words about this mama's experience and thoughts from her session:

“As a mom, I rarely exist in photos. I spend more hours with my kids than anyone else and I seldom exist in photos or memories captured. Jenae changed this. Actually she did more than change this. She SHOWED ME who I am as a mom & what I mean to my kids with her art.
I think most parents experience what I’m about to describe. There’s a rhythm & routine to everything & you’re often going through the motions, not even thinking about it. Until one day you realize you’re finished with that phase & it’s gone forever. And you mourn it. You miss the very things that were drudgery day after day before. As a twin mom, it’s easy to take those little moments for granted - the way they want you to put their socks on, the way you’d wash their hands, the way you play, snack time, the way they throw their little hands around your neck in a hug, the way they want you to hold them when they cry. It’s easy to get lost in the monotony in your attempt to simply survive, keeping everyone fed & alive.
But Jenae froze this moment in time in our life in the most beautiful way. Now anytime I want, years from now, I can look back and feel the weight of my 2.5 year olds in my arms. I can smell their toddler shampoo in their little wiry blonde hair when I put their pigtails in. The silly faces we’d make, the squeeze of their hug, the way bubbles were the best play toy, quickly followed by the worst, the way we’d let them collect fake chicken eggs, and just the overall magic that is toddlerhood. It’s the best gift you can give yourself to have these photos done and Jenae has this incredible talent for it unlike any I’ve seen.”

Anyway!  Off my soapbox!  Onto this little Mama and her littles Family Story session!!  Enjoy!!!
