Killer Winter Sunrise Mountain Engagement Photos
Trista & Riley perfectly spontaneous for their beautifully cold Rocky Mountain National Park morning!
I was once again lucky enough to have some free time to tag along with my friend, Savannah Chandler (Photography) on my first SUNRISE session! If you know me, you know that I have NEVER been a morning person!! However, after years of seeing such phenomenal lighting and photos in the early morning light- I knew I needed to do it. Just so happens, Savannah had an awesome couple lined up for a Sunrise session in Rocky Mountain National Park just after a phenomenal dusting of snow! I really couldn't say no.....and I'm so so glad I didn't!! Not only did we get some killer images-- as you will see-- but I got to hangout with a friend- and just have some fun photo time! So nice to just experiment and try new things!
We started at the Fall River entrance and headed up to West Horseshoe Park while it was still dark! Just as we pulled in, there was of course a herd of Elk just meandering across the road-- just another day in Paradise! As we pulled up to a nice little rock outcropping- we waited for a bit of light in the warm cars! It was REAL cold! Like, my hands got too cold and then they HURT as they warmed up. As the sun came up though it got a bit warmer and bit more bearable! However, I had a Coat and warm clothes on-- Trista and Riley were troopers in just their cute clothes!! As the sun rose through the fog- a deep orange filled the sky and it was just gorgeous! We then headed down into the park a bit more, the falling snow in the sunlight was just magical! As you can see-- the rest of the session was nothing short of superb.
I'm so excited to be heading back up to Estes Park in a few weeks for another Engagement session in Rocky Mountain National Park! I'm hoping it will be a little less snowy for this one-- but who knows in Colorado!
Thanks again to Savannah Chandler, and Trista and Riley for having me along!
