Showing off some of my Colorado Mountain Weddings & Engagements, as well as a few Destination Photography Weddings!
Ok--- first off-- these images in this post are NOT High Resolution! I just did a screenshot off the Contest webpage to show what badge they received! So, while I am showing them off, keep in mind they are low-resolution! ;) I'm sure you can find the actual photo in my Gallery pages as well!
So, a couple months ago, I last-minute decided to enter a photo contest. This is an international contest with multiple Categories (not just Wedding)-- I grabbed some of my favs off my website and entered them the night before the deadline! Phew!
Now, in all honestly, I hate photo contests. Being that I am a pretty competitive person- this may come as a shock! However, for Art in general, it is such a subjective thing to judge by one person- or a panel pf people. what if that one day they decided they didn't like something in particular- and that was what your image was? etc. How we perceive Art and what is the "best", is so personal to everybody individually, that there is really no way that one person, or panel, could ever decide fairly what is the "best". Now, that is not to say that there aren't some images out there that are just phenomenal, and most can agree on--- yes, those do exist. So, why did I decide to do this one? Well, this contest is unique in the way that it is not a panel of judges....or one...it is the general public! Anyone could have gone to the website and voted! Simple as that! You can also vote as often as you like (which can be terribly addicting!!!)! So, while it was still a contest where it all comes down to whoever is judging your photo when it pops up (and what type of photo it went up against in that round...), you still can get a fun idea of what the general public thinks of your photos! So, in the end it was pretty fun!
Now, for the results. I'm pretty darn proud to say that a few of mine made it to the finals!! wow! My goal was to place in the top 100, which I was just shy of on some of these-- but there's always next year! You can see on each photo what it placed! the placements are based on the Category-- for instance, Bride and Groom portraits, Details, Engagement, Bride Alone, Groom Alone, Bridal Party, etc.
Quick stats for the whole contest:
225,207 Photos internationally entered
over 25 million votes
Finalist badge = top 3.5% of ALL photos!
So, this year I only submitted Wedding/Engagement images. As I was voting though, I was so upset that I didn't submit any of my family stuff, or stuff of my boys!! Next year for sure!! (hopefully with more prep time involved!)
Thank you to all my AMAZING and AWESOME clients that invite me into their weddings and lives!! It's truly an honor, and I'm so thankful to be able to do this everyday!!
Until next year Shoot and Share!
