Summer wildflower Engagement at Pass Lake and Loveland Pass

There’s something special about late summer in the mountains — especially at 11,000 feet. The wildflowers are still hanging on, the skies are crisp and clear, and the light stretches out in that slow, golden way that makes every moment feel just a little more meaningful.
This Colorado proposal session took place at Pass Lake, just below Loveland Pass, and it was the perfect mix of peaceful, scenic, and personal. The couple had planned a casual hike, but what started as a walk around the lake turned into a life-changing moment.
The proposal happened at the edge of the lake, surrounded by alpine wildflowers and peaks in every direction. It was quiet, genuine, and exactly what they wanted — no crowds, no distractions, just the two of them in a place that already meant something to their story.
After the surprise, we stuck around for a relaxed Colorado engagement photo session. Just a short drive (or hike) up to the top of Loveland Pass, we had panoramic mountain views, clear skies, and plenty of room to wander and take it all in. This kind of scenery is why Colorado mountain engagement photos are always a favorite — they never look staged because the landscape does the heavy lifting.
One of my favorite moments was the tears on Sweta’s face after the proposal. I got right up in her face to take the photo— and I’m glad I did. I love this photo.
Pass Lake and Loveland Pass is one of my favorite easy-access places in Colorado to get high up moutain views for Engagement sessions (or Elopements!)— and not feel like you are right off the road.
