High Alpine Fall Elopement in Colorado Mountains
Allow me to start this blog post by giving some love to Elopements in general! When I was growing up, or really anytime before just recently, “elopement” conjured up images of running off to Las Vegas, or a courthouse, and that was it! Although lately, the idea that everyone has a large big wedding affair, or you run off to Vegas, is really not the case! I am here for it!! An Elopement can be just two people that love each other (thanks to the fact that you can marry yourself in Colorado!), adding in some furry friends, or doing more of what is considered a “Micro-elopement” (very closest family and fiends only)! I love this movement that your wedding day an look HOWEVER you want it to!!
We all know that Weddings are fun. Weddings are a beautiful celebration, and sometimes downright jaw-dropping! Weddings can be a wonderful gathering time for family and friends! For some though, weddings can also be stressful and anxiety inducing. Weddings can also bring up family drama and fears of not pleasing everyone else. Not being enough. Not being the best. Not having enough time with your family and friends. It can feel like your wedding is not as much for you, but a day for everyone else. IF this is how you are are feeling…you should be able to look to your professionals (me!) for guidance! to help you create the day you DO want—- for you! I LOVE this notion that everyone is truly accepting and putting more importance on how they want to spend their day and start their journey together! Of course living in Colorado, there is a high number of mountain Elopements, for good reason! With an Experienced photographer (me!), you can create a one of a kind day for you and your partner that is created just for you!
Like so many couples I have met, this is what Christina and Adam decided to do! They wanted to spend the afternoon with just the two of them (and their adorable pup!), out in the mountains where they grew their relationship— and spend so much time! Grabbing some beautiful photos that they can treasure forever that showcase the Mountains, and then exchanging Vows among the colorful aspens…this was how they wanted this moment remembered.
With my guidance and help with plans, and listening to what they wanted, we formulated a wonderful afternoon in some gorgeous locations— with extreme solitude (even in busy locations typically!).
We started our afrernoon meeting up at one of my fav easy access locations in Summit County…Pass Lake (Loveland Pass). Given that this particular location is situated where the sun itself is lost behind the mountain a bit earlier than most places….we decided to do some big mountain photos there first, and then hit a different location with the changing Aspen Foliage (This was important to Christina!) for their actual Vows!
After our alpine location photo time, we decide to hit another one of my favorite private locations in Summit County area— for a bit different look (Christina really wanted some Aspen Trees!)! We headed there for them to do their ceremony and exchange vows. It was so beautiful and intimate…and they even did a quick little dance together! Signed the marriage license to make it official…and then we went wandering some more! It became a tad stormy (welcome to Colorado! Every-changing weather!), but the rain stayed away thankfully! I loved Christina’s Peach dress among the orange and yellow Aspens! Again, I loved that she just chose something to wear that she loved!
Our last location (yet another background!) was not far from their ceremony location, and we enjoyed the last bit of light! Isn’t her flower Crown so pretty, too?! the dark blues int he sky complimented the changing leaves so well— I love a moody sky! The Gore Range is such a great backdrop— it is very dramatic! Within Summit county (Silverthorne area specifically), you can actually see 3 different mountain ranges (even further and more in some spots!) After our photos, these two officially wed peeps headed off to a nice dinner! Perfect way to end a beautiful afternoon!
