candid lifestyle family photography on adorable farm!
SPENDING THE AFTERNOON WITH A COW, PIGS, DOGS, A TRACTOR....AND AN AMAZING NEW MEXICO FAMILY
The one thing that is cool about it not being "wedding" season is that I get to have a minute to reflect a bit and *maybe* catch up on some business stuff, new ideas for the future, prep for the next year, and catch up on some old sessions that I didn't have time to blog when they happened!
This session is actually almost 2 years old I think....geez! It is hard looking at older sessions....I mean, as far as technical ability and editing style, etc. I feel as a photographer- you grow so much every year...and there is nowhere to go but better. What I do like though....is seeing the consistent ability of being able to draw out genuine smiles and moments from my clients...and in the end that is what matters most.
This story is a special one to me. As I have mentioned before- I am excited to be taking my family portrait sessions in an amazing new direction- more documentation of your story! We took a trip out to Los Alamos to visit my Brother for 4th of a July, and one of my sis-in-laws friends wanted to schedule a session with me. We talked about what she wanted to capture- and I was stoked! They have this adorable little farm and beautiful home in a little valley right outside of Los Alamos, and all the kids are very active in 4-H, and have their own animals, and she really wanted to capture that. They have a cool little vineyard as well- and growing crops, etc! I literally fell in love with it! We also had that beautiful New Mexico sun that came through for us too!
This session is really important to me as I reflect back on the last couple years- as I think this is probably the session that really kicked into gear for me the thought of documenting stories, rather than just posed portraits- and really truly recognizing what I love about photography and why I BELIEVE in it so much. I had so much fun getting to know them all and just capturing their life and the things that are important to them.
After I sent the Gallery to them, I had a response that almost made me cry- she had said that she had cried, and the photos gave her an overwhelming sense of gratefulness and she was so thankful of all that she had....and was so thankful that we did the session.
That. That is why I do what I do. I truly believe that photos are so powerful at telling the best stories of our lives...and moments and FEELINGS that we want to always re-live, and pass down to our children. Can a photo be that powerful and influential? You bet it can.
Thank you Maestas family.
So, here is a little peek into their Story! Yes, there are posed photos as well- as I do feel there is a place for those as well, but the real story is all the in-between photos.
Want to document your Family Story in Colorado?? Not the posed moments...but your REAL story? Contact me so we can set it up! Time flies people....there's no better time than now.
(PS- a "family" doesn't have to mean Children! I am talking YOUR story-- so that can be you and your hubby, your pets, your partner, you and your business, etc......whatever YOUR story is!!)
