A gorgeous fall wedding day in the heart of Boulder!
Hannah + Matt are my people. Case in point: their first dance song was Faithfully by Journey. (I highly recommend having that track on in the background as you scroll this post). The bride’s family and I go back...way back to the days of 90s-era soccer with her sisters, orange slices and all. Even as a kid, I knew Hannah’s family was special. They were always so full of love and I’m so glad I’ve stayed in touch with them over the years. When Hannah + Matt asked me to be their wedding photographer it was an honor…and a no-brainer!
So many people came out to celebrate Hannah + Matt’s love on a GORGEOUS fall day in the heart of Boulder, Colorado - it was a BIG, beautiful Colorado wedding, complete with a surprise snowstorm (oh, Colorado). The day started out in the presidential suites at the charming Hotel Boulderado where the bride, groom and bridal party got ready for the day. Hannah slipped into her stunning gown, Matt adjusted his cuff links and they were off to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church to make it official.
After the ceremony, I snuck off with the bride and groom to snap some pictures of just the two of them. I love when a bride and groom are willing to sneak away after the ceremony to grab some pictures - it's such an intimate time to just be together as husband and wife before the rush of the reception. We captured some great shots at Chautauqua (where I sat in a cactus...anything for the shot!) then went up to Flagstaff mountain to grab some sunset photos at Lost Gulch Lookout. If you’re from the Boulder area, you know it took some mad wedding photographer skills to avoid the crowds (and stoners) that are notorious in this area, and I have to say, it was worth it - The photos of Hannah + Matt standing on top of the mountain are breathtaking.
After high-fiving another wedding couple on their way up for photos, I drove Hannah + Matt back down the mountain with my 80s playlist blasting (as I usually do), and ironically, their first dance song came on ( Faithfully by Journey…seriously just put that puppy on repeat and keep scrolling) and we sang it at the top of our lungs. I think it was a pretty good sign from the universe that their love and their marriage is pretty legit.
The reception was back at the Hotel Boulderado where Hannah + Matt were welcomed by a crowd of their adoring family and friends to eat, drink and dance the night away. And then we ate cheeseburgers and french fries in the snow. It was a great day. Cheers to you, Hannah + Matt. I wish you many, many amazing years ahead!
It takes one heck of a team to pull off a wedding like this - shout out to all the awesome vendors that helped to make Hannah + Matt’s day so special!
