Sunrise Elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park
Fall Colors and Morning Alpenglow light up Sprague Lake for intimate Colorado Elopement!
If you’ve never been to Rocky Mountain National Park, well, you should go. that’s that. If you’ve never been at sunrise or sunset….you need to go. Period. There is a reason this is one of the most visited National Parks in the country (so plan accordingly!!)….its jaw-dropping! If you have been following my work, you know that I spend a lot of time here— so I am a bit biased…but for good reason!
(Check out a few more of my favorite RMNP Sessions HERE and HERE!)
Circling back to this amazing morning…I had the privilege of documenting Alex & Zach’s beautiful Sunrise Elopement at Sprague Lake this past Fall! While Fall in Colorado can be a little unpredictable (well, really, it’s always unpredictable here…), we ended up getting an amazingly gorgeous morning Alpenglow, and Colorado Bluebird day! I met up with everyone at the Entrance to the park (there is no cell service in park— just FYI!), and we kept separate as we drove up to Sprague Lake- a very easily accessible Lake from Parking Lot, with beautiful views! (*RMNP has only a few designated areas that you can officially use for a ceremony, and requires permits! If you are interested in this, I can help!)
They finished getting ready quickly in car in the dark…and then I walked Zach down the trail to the other side of the Lake, and then went and grabbed Alex! We had an intimate First look and portraits and the Sun came up over the ridge, and lit up the ridge! After Portraits, the rest of the gang headed towards the wedding Deck on the Lake, and we had a beautiful ceremony! Family pics, and a few candids with friends, and then they were off to their Estes Park VRBO for the rest of their adventures for the day!
Now, with all this amazingness…..can you believe that I actually Locked my keys in my car!?? lol….truth. At a high Mountain lake with no cell service lol. Being some of the nicest and most generous people I have met though, Alex’s mom helped me with AAA after discovering that Alex’s phone actually had one bar of service!! Then, I didn’t want them waiting- I wanted them to get off onto their day adventures…she left me her info, and Alex (bride) left me her Phone to use!! They also left me with a Beer to console myself lol! I was so grateful for kind people and them totally understanding!! (Me feeling like a jackass lol!). #goodpeeps. (I dropped off their phone and everything once I got back into my car and into Estes Park!)
