What's with the Chicken? ~ Photographer Deep Thoughts.

November 30, 2015 Jenae Lopez

So, you may be wondering where the chicken came from in my new logo....right?  Or not, and you've stumbled upon this post....and are now intrigued by the chicken. Either way.  So, here is the explanation! (you can rest now!)

Drumroll.........

I just like chickens!!  Really, I have three fat backyard chickens (well....they are currently being Chicken-sat (?) by my husbands grandparents since we are moving) named Red, Orange, and Happy foot....named by my boys when they were 3.  They are actually totally psycho and I'm convinced they don't have brains....but I love them.

I love the peace and dream of thinking I live on a little mountain valley farm with crazy animals and my little family-- and just having these crazy-birds gives me little of that.

Also- I used to have a logo that depicted little Mountains...and as I love that all of course, it was not exactly an original statement living in Colorado.  Being a native here-- I feel it's kinda my duty to look beyond the stereo-typical categorization that people assume for Coloradoans.   Yes-- I LOVE the mountains and camping and hiking and all things Colorado (and we are pretty lucky to live here!!)-- but there is more to us too!!  Farms, Agriculture, small towns, bustling cities, College towns, and family-living.  There was a point in my life where all I did was hike, rock climb, ski, and play in the Colorado outdoors-- and I strive for the outdoors as much as possible still!  However, my life has taken a bit of a turn with becoming a mom and wife and running a business, etc.  When I looked at my old logo- I felt I was trying to portray a bit of who I used to be more than who I am now.  My little chicken still makes me feel like my business and I are still an embodiment of a true "Coloradoan", but an evolved one.

I know....way too much thought into a logo....and it was truly ridiculous trying to figure all of it out!  But there it is.  The inner workings of my brain.  Yikes! ;)

Here are a couple more pictures of my chickens....just because!  Long live the Chicken!!
