This is the 2nd year I have entered some of my photos from the year, into an international Photo contest- called the Shoot and Share Contest. (info here: http://shootandshare.com/photo-contest/) In general, I have a hard time with photography contests, because it just all depends on who is voting, and what they deem as "art" or the best photo-- which is so subjective because Photography itself is so subjective- how can you say one photo is better then the next- especially when they are lifestyle, or story, images? Is it technically better? Or, do you just like the light in that photo? you like that persons green eyes? You are partial to images of Mountains? Etc.....Anyway- I do it mainly for fun- and to just force myself to get my images out there, and review what I have done over the last year! So- yippee to that!! ;) Also, it is a great source of inspiration and support from the fellow Photography community- which can be instrumental in an Art-based industry.
I am pretty pleased in the fact that I did a bit "better" than last year (in terms of earned Badges), and 25/50 of my images placed in the top 30%-- so that's pretty sweet!! But mostly super duper excited that my photo that went the very farthest was one of my son (top image in this post!)!! I absolutely adore this image- and it just makes my heart so happy. ;)
So, here are all the results for how I did this year! yay!!! Here are the basic stats of the competition:
Total Photos entered into competition: 360,000, 25 Categories
25/50 of my images placed in the top 30%
I am putting what place each photo got under the photo!
I want to THANK all my amazing clients and Family for allowing me to do the most amazing job in the world!!! You all Rock!!! Doing this also gets me super amped for this year- and all the areas that I want to grow....and looking forward to all the amazing new clients, Weddings, Families, and personal adventures that are to come!! Until next year- Cheers!! Also quick shout out to all the people who create and make this contest real! Tons of hours counting, coding, and putting it all together- thank you S&S peeps!
**** PLEASE NOTE: These photos are Screen-shots from the Contest, to include the Badge they earned! They are likely to be a bit blurry/not sharp, and a few have a bit of the photo cropped out! Of course the full resolution images look much clearer!****
