Today is my hubby and I's 11 year Wedding anniversary!! Woot woot!! Can't believe how fast time flies.
We are just hanging around our house this year and went to a nice dinner last night....however, we went to NYC last year together for our 10 year anniversary trip (our first time there!)....and I realized this weekend that I hadn't even really looked at our photos yet....a YEAR later. Fail. Life gets so busy!!! So, I decided I would actually go through them and do a little personal post in honor of our Anniversary today! ;)
Anthony was on his way to India that weekend, and I was bummed because his trip was moved to fall right on our Anniversary! However, he surprised me a bit last minute and got it moved back a few days, and we decided to both fly out to NYC together (and then he left directly from there to India, and I came home). I last minute tried to put together a total Tourist-top-things-to-do in NYC in like 2 days (laughable)....and even though we just scratched the surface, we saw a ton of stuff, did the tourist thing, kissed on the Empire state building at midnight on our Anniversary (not in these photos though- took with phone!), saw Times Square and all surrounding areas (and LOTS of interesting characters and people....to say the least....), walked Central Park, stopped in the Met, walked all the way to Wallstreet, and then walked the Brooklyn Bridge (and back....), took the Staten Island Ferry (saw Statue of Liberty-- but didn't go up onto the Island), was in absolute awe of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum (I was in constant tears and just felt a bit different after we walked the museum. The yellow rose indicates it was that persons birthday. Our cab driver afterwards also told us a personal recount of the day- as he was driving in Midtown when it happened, and watched/was a part of it first hand....), Walked the Chelsea Highline, took the cliche photo in Grand Central Station, ate Gelato, a bunch of other really great food (including quintessential hotdogs and Pretzels from street vendors), rode the Subway....and of course I took photos. We stayed at really cute little boutique hotel in Midtown called The Jewel- which was a great location for so many things! I actually also saw two different references to my Maiden name (Close)-- one was a lingerie store- lol- "Maison Close", and then another in the Met; a Helmet from Medieval days (Close Helmet). These photos were all taken with my big girl camera (Nikon D750)-- but of course we took a ton of the two of us on our phones too-- which I will have to find those photos soon....*facepalm*.
My next trip to NYC will look much different, and hopefully a tad longer-- but this was such a fun experience to just be a tourist with my best friend on our Anniversary- in such an iconic American city!!
Cheers to many, many more years together babe! xoxoxo!
