Adventurous Colorado Proposal & Engagement in Rocky Mountain National Park
Trail Ridge Road Sunset Magic
If you're dreaming of an adventurous Colorado proposal or engagement session with jaw-dropping mountain views, this story is for you. Javi and Alexis traveled from out of town to check out our beautiful state, RMNP and Estes Park, and Javi had a little surprise planned as well!
These two were all smiles and laughter from the moment I spotted them….and then followed them down the trail to where Javi would drop down on one knee for the perfect Rocky Mountain National Park Proposal! With their relaxed, outdoorsy style and effortless chemistry, they looked like they stepped right out of an Eddie Bauer catalog—natural, stylish, and completely in love. Their energy made the entire session feel spontaneous and fun, with sweet moments that unfolded effortlessly throughout the session.
We started our afternoon exploring some of the lower-elevation meadows for the actual Proposal, with golden grasses glowing under perfect bluebird skies and Longs Peak framing the backdrop (one of my favorite mountains in Colorado!). Once it was official, they took a few minutes of course, and then grabbed a few more photos in the lower areas of the park…and then as the sun began to dip lower, we made our way up the legendary Trail Ridge Road—one of the highest paved roads in North America—for an epic high alpine sunset and perfect Fall evening!
Why Engagement Photos in Rocky Mountain National Park is Epic
With its variety of locations in the Park, high-alpine options, and easy access from Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park offers countless backdrops for couples who want more than just a traditional photoshoot. Open all year-round as well!! (Although Trail Ridge Road is NOT….open late May-early October typically) Whether you're eloping, proposing, or planning an adventure engagement session like Javi and Alexis, this place delivers unforgettable views and a guaranteed good time!
Tips for Planning Your Own Adventurous Session in RMNP:
Timed Entry into the Park is required during summer and Fall months. (https://www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/10086910)
Be prepared for multiple seasons of weather! Trail Ridge Road is at a very high elevation, so even in Summer it can be chilly and windy! (Weather can change very quickly in Colorado too!)
Bear Lake corridor (where the Lake hikes are) is much busier typically, plan ahead for parking and correct Timed Entry permit.
Always follow Park rules and guidelines, and LNT principals. When exploring on the Tundra (Trail Ridge Road areas), ensure to stay on trails where noted, and be aware of ecosystems (utilizing rocks and established areas for walking, and not fragile flora)
the Pups will have to stay in the Car, the parking lot areas, or back at your hotel/accommodations; Dogs are not allowed int he park on trails or outside of parking areas.
Be yourselves! The best moments come when you're relaxed, connected, and having fun together.
